FAQ's
What
services does Pickfords offer its customers?
Pickfords offers a range of comprehensive moving and storage
services. Pickfords can offer customers the choice of packing
materials, packing services, a small moves service or a
full moving service as well as goods in transit insurance.
Pickfords' services are designed to suit the individual
needs, the budget and schedules of the families that they
move.
What happens at a survey?
The survey is an important part of the move process. At
the survey, a Pickfords Move Consultant will visit your
home to view all of the household effects that you intend
to move. The survey will be the basis of the estimation
of the volume of goods you expect to move and is fundamental
to providing an accurate quotation. Remember to show everything
to your Pickfords Move Consultant, including the contents
of drawers, your attic and garage.
What will influence the cost of my removal?
There are many factors that influence the cost of a removal.
Volume is a key factor, the more you intend to move, the
longer the removal is likely to take, then the higher the
price of your move. Seasonal factors like time of year and
even time of the week also play a part. The laws of supply
and demand apply and it is usually more expensive to move
on a Friday than it is to move on a Wednesday, more expensive
to move during peak season ( e.g August) than it is to move
during low season (e.g February)
How will Pickfords wrap and pack my goods?
Pickfords will use only purpose designed packing materials
to pack and wrap your items. Fragile items like glass and
china will be packed in white tissue paper. Silver will
be wrapped in acid free tissue paper to protect them from
tarnishing. Clothing will be packed into specially designed
wardrobe cartons and books will be flat packed into book
cartons.
What insurance options are available?
Pickfords offers New for Old insurance which ensures
that any items that are damaged or lost during the move
are replaced or repaired at the insurers option. Some exclusions
apply.
